The invention described herein relates to the use of propionyl L-carnitine or one of its pharmaceutically acceptable salts for the preparation of a medicine useful for the treatment of La Peyronie's disease in its various stages, particularly at the advanced stage and in forms resistant to conventional therapies. The medicine is suitable for oral, intramuscular, intravenous, and intraplaque administration. The invention described herein also relates to a combination of an active ingredient in the treatment of La Peyronie's disease, particularly verapamil, and propionyl L-carnitine or one of its pharmaceutically acceptable salts. Propionyl L-carnitine has proved to be more effective than the known active ingredients, also in intractable forms, and presents a lower incidence of side effects.
L'invention concerne l'utilisation de propionyl L-carnitine ou d'un de ses sels pharmaceutiquement acceptables dans la fabrication d'un médicament destiné au traitement de la maladie de La Peyronie, notamment dans un stade avancé ou dans des formes résistant aux thérapies conventionnelles. Le médicament selon l'invention peut être administré par voie orale, intramusculaire, intraveineuse ou intraplaque. L'invention concerne également une combinaison d'un agent actif destiné au traitement de la maladie de La Peyronie, en particulier de vérapamil, et de propionyl L-carnitine ou d'un de ses sels pharmaceutiquement acceptables. La propionyl L-carnitine s'est avérée plus efficace que les agents actifs connus, même dans des formes réfractaires de la maladie, et présente moins d'effets secondaires.
