Use of PU powder coating materials for coil coatings featuring a matt appearance Disclosed is a coil coating process of a metal substrate, which comprises: applying a polyurethane powder coating material comprising; A) 3 - 25% by weight of polyurea; B) 35 - 75% by weight of amorphous or (semi)crystalline polyester polyol having a hydroxyl number of from 5 to 250 mg KOH/g and a melting point of from 50 to 130°C; C) 5 - 30% by weight of crosslinker based on a blocked polyisocyanate, isocyanurate or uretdione having an NCO functionality of at least 2; and D) 0.5 - 50% by weight of at least one member selected from auxiliaries and additives; in which there is from 0.5 to 1.2 NCO groups of component C) available per OH group of component B), to a surface of the metal substrate; and curing the polyurethane powder coating material, thereby forming a matt coating film on the surface of the metal substrate. The coating material has good mechanical and optical properties.
