Quaternized imidazoles I (see formula I) in which R1 and R3 independently of one another are saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon radicals of 1-12 carbon atoms which can be substituted by oxygen-functional groups or interrupted by nonadjacent oxygens, R2, R4 and R5 independently of one another are hydrogen or saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon radicals of 1-12 carbon atoms which can be substituted by oxygen-functional groups or interrupted by nonadjacent oxygens, it being possible for R4 and R5, together with the corresponding imidazole carbons, to form a five- or six-membered ring, and X.THETA. is an anion, are used as corrosion inhibitors in the corrosion protection of nonferrous metals, especially for car radiator protection.

L'invention concerne l'utilisation, comme inhibiteurs de corrosion dans la protection contre la corrosion de métaux non ferreux, d'imidazoles quaternarisés de la formule (I), dans laquelle R<1> et R<3> désignent indépendamment l'un de l'autre des restes hydrocarbures saturés ou non ayant entre 1 et 12 atomes de C, pouvant être substitués par des groupes à fonction oxygène ou être interrompus par des atomes d'oxygène non adjacents, R<2>, R<4> et R<5> désignent indépendamment les uns des autres hydrogène ou des restes hydrocarbures saturés ou non ayant entre 1 et 12 atomes de C, pouvant être substitués par des groupes à fonction oxygène ou être interrompus par des atomes d'oxygène non adjacents, R<4> et R<5> pouvant constituer, conjointement avec les atomes de carbone correspondants, un composé cyclique à cinq ou à six chaînons, et X<O> désigne un anion. Ces composés s'utilisent notamment pour la protection de radiateurs dans le domaine automobile.
