The present invention includes a method to determine the immune status of an animal that includes the steps of (a) contacting a biological specimen of the animal with a recombinant infectious agent antigen that is specific for detecting an antibody selective for that infectious agent, under conditions suitable for formation of a complex between the recombinant antigen and the antibody and (b) detecting the presence or absence of the complex, wherein presence or absence of a complex is indicative of the immune status of the animal. Preferably such a method indicates whether the animal should be vaccinated. The present invention also includes an assay comprising (a) a recombinant infectious agent antigen that is specific for detecting an antibody selective for that infectious agent; and (b) a means to detect an antibody that selectively binds to the recombinant antigen. Also included in the present invention are recombinant antigens and nucleic acid molecules encoding such antigens as well as methods to produce and use such nucleic acid molecule and recombinant antigens.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de déterminer l'état immunitaire d'un animal. Ce procédé consiste à (a) faire entrer en contact un échantillon biologique de l'animal avec un antigène d'agent infectieux recombiné conçu pour détecter spécifiquement un anticorps présentant une sélectivité pour cet agent infectieux, dans des conditions permettant la formation d'un complexe entre l'antigène recombiné et l'anticorps, et (b) détecter la présence ou l'absence de ce complexe, cette présence ou cette absence de complexe indiquant l'état immunitaire de l'animal. Ces procédés sont utilisés de préférence pour déterminer si un animal doit être vacciné. L'invention concerne également un test comprenant (a) un antigène d'agent infectieux recombiné permettant la détection spécifique d'un anticorps présentant une sélectivité pour cet agent infectieux, et (b) des moyens permettant de détecter un anticorps qui se lie sélectivement à l'antigène recombiné. L'invention concerne en outre des antigènes recombinés et des molécules d'acide nucléique codant pour de tels antigènes, ainsi que des procédés permettant la production et l'utilisation de ces molécules d'acide nucléique et de ces antigènes recombinés.
