D-Ribose is administered before and after general anaesthesia to reduce the time to recover from the effects of general anaesthesia. Preferably, pyrogen- free D-Ribose is administered intravenously during general anaesthesia and the interval post-anaesthesia before oral administration can be resumed. D-Glucose may be co-administered to reduce the effect of hypoglycemia that may be seen with D-Ribose administration.

On administre de la D-ribose avant et après l'anesthésie générale afin de réduire le temps nécessaire pour se rétablir des effets de l'anesthésie générale. On administre de préférence de la D-ribose exempte de pyrogène par voie intraveineuse pendant l'anesthésie générale et dans l'intervalle qui suit l'anesthésie, avant qu'il soit possible de recommencer l'administration orale. On peut administrer en même temps du D-glucose afin de réduire les effets hypoglycémiques qui peuvent accompagner l'administration de D-ribose.
