A composition is provided that has been specially adapted for parenteral administration, e.g., intranasal, intramuscular, subcutaneous, transdermal or intraveneous administration, wherein the composition is comprised of at least one anti-protozoal drug in a therapeutically effective amount for the treatment or prevention of protozoan infections in man and in animals. In one embodiment, the anti-protozoal drug is a triazine-based anticoccidial agent, e.g., a triazinedione or triazinetrione such as diclazuril, toltrazuril, sulfonotoltrazuril or water-soluble sodium salts thereof. In a presently preferred embodiment, the triazine-based anticoccidial agent is sulfonototrazuril. Methods of treatment of protozoal infections in man and animals are also provided.
L'invention concerne une composition convenant particulièrement à une administration par voie parentérale, par exemple, une administration intranasale, intramusculaire, sous-cutanée, transdermique ou intraveineuse. La composition comprend au moins un médicament anti-prozoaire en quantités thérapeutiquement efficaces pour le traitement ou la prévention d'infections protozoaires chez l'homme et l'animal. Selon un mode de réalisation, le médicament anti-prozoaire est un agent anticoccidien à base de triazine, par exemple une triazine-dione ou une triazine-trione telle que du diclazuril, toltrazuril, sulfonotrazuril ou des sels de sodium solubles dans l'eau de ces composés. Actuellement, on utilise de préférence du sulfonototrazuril comme agent anticoccidien. L'invention porte également sur des procédés de traitement d'infections protozoaires chez l'homme et l'animal.
