A method for the inhibition of vascular smooth muscle cell hyperplasia in a human or other warm-blooded animal patient in need of such treatment, comprises administration to the patient of an effective amount of at least one sulfated oligosaccharide, wherein the oligosaccharide has the general formula (I): R1-(Rx)n-R2 wherein R1 and R2 and each Rx represents a monosaccharide unit, all of which may be the same or different, adjacent monosaccharide units being linked by 12, 13, 14 and/or 16 glycosidic bonds and n is an integer of from 1 to 6.
L'invention concerne une méthode qui permet d'inhiber l'hyperplasie des cellules musculaires lisses de la paroi vasculaire chez l'homme ou chez les animaux à sang chaud ayant besoin dudit traitement. La méthode consiste à administrer au patient une quantité efficace d'au moins un oligosaccharide sulfaté, de formule générale (I) R¿1?-(R¿x?)¿n?-R¿2?, dans laquelle R¿1?, R¿2? et tous les R¿x? représentent des unités monosaccharides, pouvant être identiques ou différentes, les unités monosaccharides adjacentes étant liées par des liaisons glycosidiques 1?2, 1?3, 1?4 et/ou 1?6; et n est un entier compris entre 1 et 6.
