A method of removing ammonium ions or amines from contaminated water includes treating the water with sodium tetraphenylborate under acidic conditions. Advantageously, the tetraphenylborate is immobilized on polymer beads and the water is contacted with the beads or passed through a bed of the beads.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'extraction d'ions ammonium ou d'amines d'eau contaminée, qui comporte une étape de traitement de l'eau au moyen de tétraphénylborate de sodium dans des conditions d'acidité. Il est avantageux d'immobiliser le tétraphénylborate sur des billes de polymères, et de mettre l'eau en contact avec les billes ou de la faire passer à travers un lit de billes.
