A method for converting starting material to olefins comprising contacting the starting material with a small pore molecular sieve catalyst under effective conditions to produce olefins, wherein the molecular sieve has been modified after synthesis by incorporation of a transition metal ion using a transition metal compound, wherein the transition metal ion is selected from the group comprising Groups VIB, VIIB, or VIII or mixtures thereof.

Procédé de conversion de matériau de départ en oléfines, qui consiste à mettre en contact ledit matériau de départ avec un catalyseur tamis moléculaire à petits pores dans des conditions efficaces pour produire des oléfines, ledit tamis moléculaire ayant été modifié après synthèse par incorporation d'un ion de métal de transition à l'aide d'un composé de métal de transition, l'ion de métal de transition étant choisi dans le groupe constitué des groupes VIB, VIIB ou VIII ou de mélanges desdits groupes.
