A method and apparatus for generating a TCP packet connection (160) between a remote host (40) on a first network (Internet/Intranet) and a mobile station (30) on a mobile network is disclosed. The process initially involves performing a three-way handshake routine (100, 105, 110) between the remote host (40) and a gateway packet mobile switching center (55) of the mobile network to establish the validity of a TCP packet connection request. During the handshake routine transmissions (100, 105, 110) from the remote host (40) are buffered by the gateway packet mobile switching center (55). A second three-way handshake routine (145, 150, 155) is then carried out between the gateway packet mobile switching center (55) and the mobile station (30) using the buffered transmissions to complete a TCP connection (160) between the mobile station (30) and the remote host (40).
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de génération d'une connexion de paquets TCP (160) entre un hôte à distance (40) dans un premier réseau (Internet/Intranet) et une station mobile (30) dans un réseau mobile. Le procédé consiste initialement à effectuer une routine de passage de témoin triple (100, 105, 110) entre l'hôte à distance (40) et un centre passerelle de commutation mobile de paquets (55) du réseau mobile pour établir la validité d'une demande de connexion de paquets TCP. Lors de la routine de passage de témoin, les transmissions (100, 105, 110) provenant de l'hôte à distance (40) sont dotées d'un tampon par le centre passerelle de commutation mobile de paquets (55). Une deuxième routine de passage de témoin triple (145, 150, 155) est alors effectuée entre le centre passerelle de commutation mobile de paquets (55) et la station mobile (30), les transmissions dotées d'un tampon étant utilisées pour compléter une connexion TCP (160) entre la station mobile (30) et l'hôte à distance (40).
