The use of vanadium oxide iron and/or aluminium bronzes as a cathode material in electrochemical generators is de- scribed. The cathode material is a vanadium oxide bronze having formula: M1x1M2x2V2O5, wherein M1 is trivalent aluminium or iron, M2 is a metal different from M1 having valency n and chosen from alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, transition me- tals and aluminium, and x1 and x2 are such that 0.06 <= x1 <= 0.13; 0 <= x2 <= 0.20; and 0.27 <= 3 x1 <= nx2 <= 0.39; and may be combined as a cathode (9) with an Li or Li alloy anode (5) and with an electrolyte consisting of lithium perchlorate in propylene carbonate. L'invention concerne l'utilisation de bronzes d'oxyde de vanadium au fer et/ou à l'aluminium comme matériau cathodique dans des générateurs électrochimiques. Ce matériau cathodique est un bronze d'oxyde de vanadium de formule: M1x1M2x2V2O5 dans laquelle M1 représente le fer ou l'aluminium trivalent, M2 représente un métal différent de M1 de valence n choisi par- m1 les métaux alcalins, les métaux alcalinoterreux, les métaux de transition et l'aluminium, et x1 et x2 sont tels que 0,06 <= x1 <= 0,13; 0 <= x2 <= 0,20; et 0,27 <= 3x1 + nx2 <= 0,39. Il peut être associé comme cathode (9) à une anode (5) en Li ou alliage de Li et à un électrolyte constitué par du perchlorate de lithium dans du carbonate de propylène.
