HOE 91/F 384 Abstract of the Disclosure: The use of xanthine derivatives for stabilizing autoregu- lation of cerebral circulation. The use of at least one xanthine derivative of the formula I Image (I) and/or of at least one physiologically tolerable salt of the formula I in which R1 is oxoalkyl, hydroxyalkyl or alkyl, R2 is a hydrogen atom or alkyl and R3 is a hydrogen atom, alkyl, oxoalkyl or an alkyl having up to 6 carbon atoms, whose carbon chain is interrupted by an oxygen atom, for the production of pharmaceuticals for stabiliz- ing autoregulation of cerebral circulation, and cerebral protection during cardiac or pulmonary resuscitation is described.
