An improved method is disclosed for creating and sizing panes within a window of a display screen of a computer system as part of an interactive graphical user interface. Grab handles are positioned in the borders of the panes. When a grab handle of a pane is selected by user interaction, an adjustable rectangularform is created on the screen which represents a new pane. The existing pane is split in an arbitrary manner. The size of the new pane can be varied so as to include areas of the screen from other existing panes. The existing panes are then reconfigured so as to be accommodated of the screen along with the newly created pane.
Méthode améliorée, intégrée à une interface graphique interactive homme-machine, pour créer et dimensionner des sous-fenêtres à l'intérieur de la fenêtre d'un écran de visualisation de système informatique. Des poignées apparaissent sur le bord de ces sous-fenêtres. Lorsque, par l'interaction de l'utilisateur, une poignée de sous-fenêtre est sélectionnée, une forme rectangulaire ajustable apparaît à l'écran pour représenter la nouvelle sous-fenêtre. La sous-fenêtre existante se divise alors de façon arbitraire. On peut faire varier les dimensions de la nouvelle sous-fenêtre de manière à ce que l'écran comprenne également des sections appartenant à d'autres sous-fenêtres ayant déjà été créées. La forme de ces dernières est alors modifiée pour qu'elles puissent tenir à l'écran en même temps que la sous-fenêtre venant d'être créée.
