The present invention relates to a method and means for using advertising to identify a region in a parking lot. In essence, the invention provides the opportunity to market parking on bases other than price and location. An advertiser whose advertising is associated with a particular region of a parking lot can provide, either independently or in concert with the parking lot owner or parking lot operator, benefits to patrons parking their vehicles in the region. Such benefits might include a simple reminder of where the patron's vehicle is parked, financial incentives for parking in the region, or parking amenities associated with the region.
