Method and apparatus for producing an accurately positioned white layer (40) to serve as an undercoat for inkjet process colors imaging on a substrate, by accurately ink jetting a colorless loosely-bonded frame onto the substrate, thereby defining an area (30) to be imaged, ink jetting or spraying a white layer (40), the white layer at least partially overlapping the frame and covering the area (30) defined by the frame.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de produire une couche blanche (40) placée avec précision et destinée à servir de sous-couche pour la production d'une image couleurs sur un substrat, selon un procédé à jet d'encre. Ce procédé consiste à pulvériser par jet d'encre, de façon précise, un cadre faiblement adhérent et incolore, définissant ainsi une zone (30) sur laquelle une image doit être créée, et à pulvériser par jet d'encre ou à vaporiser une couche blanche (40), cette couche blanche recouvrant du moins en partie le cadre et recouvrant la zone (30) définie par ce cadre.
