Techniques for using a hypermedia system to make an active representation of an enterprise's information architecture. The active representation consists of hypermedia objects and links which correspond to the information architecture of the enterprise. Users may input data to the hypermedia objects, and the objects may initiate execution of programs. Consequently, the active representation may be used not only to represent the enterprise architecture, but also to perform functions in the enterprise, In particular, the hypermedia objects may represent entities or processes in the information architecture and the links connecting the objects may represent relations between entities in an entity-relationship representation of the information architecture or data flows between process nodes of a process flow representation of the information architecture. Other links include structural links, which serve to connect components of multi-part objects, and maintenance links, which link hypermedia objects where a change in one of the objects requires a change in the other.
L'invention est constituée par des méthodes d'utilisation d'un système hypermédia pour faire une représentation active de l'architecture d'information d'une entreprise.
