When working with or using a Map having a "Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Grid", and when using Grid Co-ordinates (References) to state a Present Location (Start Point) and a Destination (End Point), the UTM Multi-Disc can indicate both the Bearing or Back Bearing and indicate the Distance between the "Start Point" and the "End Point". The UTM Multi-Disc can be used as an overlay on the actual Map or by dialing in the change + or - (from Start Point to End Point) between the relative Grid Co- ordinates as given. The UTM Multi-Disc makes allowances for the variation between Grid North and True North in order to provide the user with the proper Bearing and Back Bearing to effectively use that bearing in the field or for representing the proper Bearing and Back Bearing to others. (The variation may be increased or decreased to allow additionally for Declination in the event that the end user does not have a Compass that makes an allowance for Declination.) The UTM Multi-Disc can be designed to represent any scale and constructed in a variety of sizes to cover as many Grid Patterns as required to effectively work with any map.
