The present invention provides a method of inducing an immune response in a non-invasive mode, comprising the step of: contacting skin of an individual in need of such treatment topically by applying to said skin an immunologically effective concentration of a genetic vector encoding a gene of interest. Also provided is a method of inducing an anti-tumor immune response in an animal in need of such treatment, comprising the step of: contacting skin of said animal topically by applying to said skin an immunologically effective concentration of a vector encoding a gene which encodes an antigen which induces an anti- tumor effect in said animal following administration. The genetic vector may include adenovirus recombinants, DNA/adenovirus complexes, DNA/liposome complexes, or any other vectors capable of expressing transgenes. Topical application of genetic vectors may preferably include a device as designed therein.

La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant d'induire une réponse immunitaire de manière non effractive. Ce procédé consiste à appliquer par la voie topique, sur la peau d'un patient nécessitant ce traitement, une concentration efficace du point de vue immunologique d'un vecteur génétique codant un gène donné. L'invention se rapporte également à un procédé permettant d'induire une réponse immunitaire anti-tumorale chez un animal nécessitant ce traitement. Ce second procédé consiste à appliquer par la voie topique sur la peau dudit animal une concentration efficace du point de vue immunologique d'un vecteur codant un gène codant lui-même un antigène qui induit un effet anti-tumoral chez ledit animal à la suite de l'administration. Ce vecteur génétique peut comporter des recombinants adénoviraux, des complexes ADN/adénovirus, des complexes ADN/liposome, ou tout autre vecteur susceptible d'exprimer des transgènes. L'application topique de vecteurs génétiques peut de préférence nécessiter l'utilisation d'un dispositif tel que décrit dans le descriptif.
