A vaccine is provided herein for alleviating the symptoms of IgE-mediated allergic reactions in a mammal. The vaccine contains a protein having the entire amino acid sequence of the constant CH2-CH:3 domains of the epsilon chain of the IgE molecule from the mammal species in question, or a structurally-stable unit of the amino acid sequence containing more than 12 amino acids, in its original or in a mutated or multimerized form.
