ABSTRACT The present invention relates to the production of vaccines having improved safety, particularly to a process therefor which allows even an AIDS vaccine to be manufactured, comprising in order, the steps of: a) treating the virus with a general inactivating agent; b) deaggreaging the virus with a suitable solvent or detergent; c) treating the virus with an RNA and/or DNA inactivating agent; and d) stabilising the virus with a suitable cross-linking agent.
