ABSTRACT The immunogenic activity of antigenic proteins and peptides has been found to be enhanced substantially if they are in the form of adsorbed detergent complexes. The invention relates to vaccines comprising one or more antigenic proteins or peptides, a detergent and an adsorbent. Detergent and adsorbent have appeared to act synergistically. Good results have been obtained with bacterial outer membrane proteins and viral envelope glyco- proteins. A preferred adsorbent is aluminium phosphate.
