ABSTRACT A know vacuum switch has movable and stationary contacts with a disc-shaped contact portion, and an annular portion with an electric field-generating conductor connected in series within the contact. In this invention the conductor is in the form of a spiral conductor. This produces a field which improves the interruption characteristics of the switch and the spiral conductor is relatively simple to manufacture.
