ABSTRACT A unitary suction channel and dirt collection container for use in a vacuum cleaner wherein the suction channel tapers in the direction of flow and has an entry opening which is adjacent a portion of the periphery of the brush roller. The suction channel also includes a bottom guide wall which is adapted to guide heavier particles accelerated by the brush into the zone of accelerated flow created by the tapering of the channel.
