ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improvement is provided in a vacuum cleaner hose construction and in a method of making the same. The vacuum cleaner hose construction includes an elongated vacuum hose having an electrical conductor extending therealong, and an electrical connector carried by the hose which is fixed to the end portion of the hose. The connector is of a particular- described shape. Portions of the connector and an intermediate part define a U-shaped configuration including a bight. The end portion cooperates with the connector for providing an electrical connection. The connector includes a holding unit, the holding unit comprising a U-shaped bight. In the improvement, the bight of the U-shaped holding member faces in the same direction as the bight of the connector. Each leg of the holding member has a pair of spaced-apart snap-fitting means of a particular shape to hold the holding member to the connector. The legs of the holding means include a pair of spaced-apart, parallel knife-like portions interconnected together by cross-member. Each knife- like portion has opposed edges defining sides of a slot therein that has an open end and a closed end. The open ends of such slots face in a direction that is opposite to the direction that the slots of the connector face.
