Abstract: A medicament is injected through a nozzle and into the tissue of a patient by compressed air. The depth of penetra- tion of the medicament is regulated by selectively varying the pressure of the air. For this purpose there is disclosed an injector having a vacuum chamber and a pressurized air chamber. A nozzle has a passageway adapted for communication with the medicament and for having the medicament expressed there- through and into the tissue upon application of pressurized air to the air chamber. The tissue is immobilized by apply- ing a vacuum to it in the area around the location where the medicament is to be injected and drawing the portion of the tissue onto the nozzle. The result is improved injection with less pain to the patient and less damage to the tissue.
