A B S T R A C T This invention consists of a device which is connected to the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine for the purpose of supplying air to the combustion chambers. through the intake manifold in addition to that of the fuel-air mixture supplied by the carburetor, during deceleration, cruising, and coasting conditions of the vehicle powered by said engine. It consists primarily of a main body, in the upper part of which is located a needle type valve in which the conical needle is in a fixed position, and the valve seat is attached to a flexible diaphragm which keeps the valve normally closed against entry of air, by means of a spring in compression, but which opens up to permit entry of air into the manifold when the vacuum caused by the downward travel of the pistons, pulls the diaphragm down. The device is provided with a central plunger which acts as a guide to keep the valve seat centered during the movement of the diaphragm, means for attaching the device near the in- take manifold, and an air outlet for connecting the device to the intake manifold.
