A vacuum packaging apparatus (10) is provided for use in evacuating the air in an open-ended package and sealing the evacuated package. The apparatus includes structure defining a chamber (36) sized only for receipt of the open end of the package with the remainder of the package disposed outside of the chamber, and a vacuum pump (68) for evacuating the chamber (36) and the package through the open end. The apparatus also includes a heating element for sealing the open end of the bag. The sealing element includes a seal bar (84) supported for movement within the chamber between a retracted position removed from pressing engagement with the package and an extended position in pressing engagement with the package and a sealing wire (86) supported on and extending across the seal bar. An electrical circuit (94) supplies current to the sealing wire (86) for heating the wire to a temperature sufficient to seal the package when the seal bar (84) is in pressing engagement with the package.
Cette invention concerne un appareil d'emballage sous vide (10) permettant d'évacuer l'air d'un emballage dont l'extrémité est ouverte, et de sceller ledit emballage une fois l'air évacué. Cet appareil comporte une structure définissant une chambre (36) dont les dimensions ne lui permettent de recevoir que l'extrémité ouverte de l'emballage, le reste de l'emballage se trouvant hors de ladite chambre; l'appareil comporte également une pompe à vide (68) afin d'évacuer l'air de la chambre (36) et de l'emballage par ladite extrémité ouverte. Cet appareil comprend en outre un élément chauffant permettant de sceller l'extrémité ouverte de l'emballage. L'élément de scellage comprend une barre de scellage (84), laquelle est montée dans la chambre et peut passer d'une position rentrée où elle n'exerce aucune pression par contact sur l'emballage, à une position sortie où elle exerce une pression par contact sur l'emballage, un fil de scellage (86) étant monté sur toute la longueur de la barre. Un circuit électrique envoie un courant dans le fil de scellage (86) afin de le chauffer à une température suffisante pour sceller l'emballage lorsque la barre de scellage (84) exerce une pression par contact sur ledit emballage.
