There is disclosed a vacuum storage and dispensing container (30) for use with perishable items, particularly food products, and more particularly for use with roasted whole-bean coffee in any retailing application, to extend the shelf life of the perishable item for several months. The invention comprises a storage and dispensing container having a cylinder (32) with a top end and a bottom end. An upper enclosure (40) is attached to the top end and a lower enclosure (60) to the bottom end. There is provided a mechanism for releasing (120) and creating (130) a vacuum in the cylinder, upper enclosure, and lower enclosure for maintaining freshness of the perishable item. In another aspect, there is disclosed a merchandising unit for storing and dispensing perishables comprising a plurality of storage and dispensing containers.
L'invention concerne un réservoir de conservation sous vide et de distribution (30) conçu pour s'utiliser avec des articles périssables, en particulier, des produits alimentaires et, plus particulièrement, du café en grains torréfié conditionné pour la vente au détail, afin de prolonger de plusieurs mois la durée de conservation dudit article. L'invention comprend un réservoir de conservation et de distribution possédant un cylindre (32) pourvu d'une extrémité supérieure et d'une extrémité inférieure. Un boîtier supérieur (40) est fixé à l'extrémité supérieure et un boîtier inférieur (60) est fixé à l'extrémité inférieure. Un mécanisme sert à libérer (120) et à créer (130) un vide dans le cylindre, dans le boîtier supérieur et dans le boîtier inférieur afin de conserver la fraîcheur de l'article périssable. Selon un autre aspect, l'invention concerne un ensemble de vente servant à conserver et à distribuer des denrées périssables et comprenant une pluralité de réservoirs de conservation et de distribution.
