A vacuum cleaner includes a tank (26) having a bottom (38) and an inlet (44) for receiving debris, a motor assembly (32) disposed adjacent to the tank, the motor assembly adapted to draw debris into the tank through the inlet (44), a battery pack (34) disposed adjacent the bottom (38) of the tank (26), and a connection from the battery pack (34) to the motor assembly (32)that is adapted to carry current between the battery pack and the motor assembly. The battery pack (34) includes at least one battery and supplies power to the motor assembly (32).
