A deck lid latch including a pawl and a release lever rotatable upon a common shaft which preferably together provide a pocket within which an intermediate disabling lever pivots to place the latch in a first enabled position or a second disabled position whereat the pawl and release lever are disjointed from cooperative movement. A finger provided with the intermediate disabling lever may be fully recessed within the housing at all latched positions of operation, yet accessible to the user when the deck lid is raised.
