Abstract A valve apparatus (5) for evacuating and/or filling a refrigeration system having a hermetically closable connecting tube (4), parti- cularly a compressor capsule (1), comprises a stop valve between an evacuating and/or filling conduit (9,11) and a connecting head (3) for temporary connection to the connecting tube (4). For placing the connecting head (8) directly on the connecting tube (4), provision is made for a sealing ring (31) which is axially aligned with an entry (28) in its housing (24) and a piston-cylinder unit (19) with a pressure chamber (20) that can be supplied with pressure medium. The sealing ring (31), which is secured against radial deflection by a circumferential wall (32), is disposed between two annular pressure faces (33, 34) and is axially compressible thereby upon actuation of the piston-cylinder unit (19). The sealing ring (31) and a coaxial clamping sleeve (29) which is deformed radially inwardly upon axial loading can form a series circuit which can be loaded by the force of the piston-cylinder unit (19). In this way, rapid connection is possible between the valve apparatus (5) and the connecting tube (4). Fig. 1
