A gas turbine engine, comprising a compressor section, a burner section, a turbine section, an afterburner section, a nozzle movable between a conventional take-off and landing (CTOL) configuration and a short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) configuration, and a valve assembly for supplying cooling air to said nozzle wherein said valve assembly reduces said cooling air to said nozzle as said nozzle approaches said (STOVL) configuration.
