Abstract of the Disclosure A filling spout for delivering finely solid material to a valve bag. The spout includes a filling tube having an imperforate wall extending from an inlet to an outlet. A casing is attached to the filling tube and hag a wall forming between it and the filling tube wall an exhaust passage having an outlet. The casing has a perforated part extending for a distance from the outlet for location within the sleeve of the valve bag and an imperforate part extending beyond the perfor- ated part to an outlet of the exhaust passage outside the bag. A valve bag for use with this type of filling spout has a sleeve of flexible porous material extending from an opening to within the bag for receiving the filling spout. The porous sleeve cooperates with the perforated part of the filling spout to allow escape of air through the exhaust passage while barring escape of solid material.
