ABSTRACT A valve device for providing an occlusion in a blood vessel to restrict or prevent blood flow to a site where surgery is being performed. The valve device comprising a delivery line 11 having two resiliently flexible branch lines 13 at one end. An inflatable member 15 is fitted onto the outer end of each branch line. The other end of the delivery line 11 is connected to a source 17 of inflation fluid for inflating the inflatable members. The inflatable members can be inserted into a blood vessel through a surgical incision in the vessel and on inflation the inflatable members sealingly engage the interior surface of the blood vessel to establish an occlusion on each side of the incision.
