ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a valve inserting apparatus for an internal combustion engine of the type with which an intake valve and an exhaust valve may be inserted into respective valve guides on the intake side and the exhaust side which are so assembled on a cylinder head of an engine that the longitudinal axes thereof cross obliquely, including a pair of valve supply means for the intake valve and the exhaust valve for supplying respective valves with a head portion of each thereof being the upside, a jig means having a jig plate adapted to set thereon the cylinder head with its surface on a combustion cham- ber side being the upside, and a valve inserting unit for both the intake and exhaust valves having a holding means for detach- ably holding each valve and a valve push-in means, and the jig plate which is supported on a jig base to be swingable about a horizontal shaft being swingable from its horizontal position to its one-side swung position at which the longitudinal axis of the valve guide on the intake side is is vertical and to its other side swung position on which the longitudinal axis of the valve guide on the exhaust side is vertical, whereby the intake valve supplied from the valve supply means for the intake valve may be inserted by the corresponding valve inserting unit into the valve guide on the intake side when the jig plate is swung to its one- side swung position, and the exhaust valve supplied from the valve supply means for the exhaust valve may be inserted by the corresponding valve inserting unit into the valve guide on the exhaust side when the jig plate is swung to its other-side swung position.
