ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved method of cleaning gas filter bags and more particularly an improved method of opening the exhaust passage of a baghouse upon the completion of the cleaning of the filter bags therein. A valve is provided in the exhaust passage and a first portion of the valve is moved from the exhaust passage to fully open only a restricted passageway between the compartment and the exhaust passage to allow a relatively restricted flow of gas through the restricted passageway. Thereafter n second portion of the valve is moved from the exhaust passage to fully open the exhaust passage to allow a relatively unrestricted flow of gas.
