A heart valve prosthesis having a plurality of leaflets encircling a flow opening and of size to coapt to form a valve, each leaflet having a free outflow edge at the outflow end of the leaflet, wherein the free outflow edge forms a convex (relative to the leaflet) curve in the plane of the leaflet, and methods for forming such a valve. A stentless heart valve prosthesis suitable for replacement of the aortic root comprising an outer wall and a plurality of leaflets positioned inside the outer wall, encircling a flow opening and of size to coapt to form a valve, wherein the outer wall and leaflets are formed from material other than natural valve material, and methods of forming such a valve prosthesis.
L'invention concerne une prothèse de valvule cardiaque présentant une pluralité de feuillets qui encerclent une ouverture d'écoulement et qui présentent des dimensions adaptées pour former une valvule, chaque feuillet présentant un bord d'écoulement libre à l'extrémité d'écoulement du feuillet. Ce bord d'écoulement libre forme une courbe convexe (par rapport au feuillet) dans le plan du feuillet. L'invention concerne également des procédés pour former une telle valvule. L'invention concerne en outre une prothèse de valvule cardiaque sans stent adaptée au remplacement de l'anneau aortique, comprenant une paroi extérieure et une pluralité de feuillets qui sont positionnés à l'intérieur de cette dernière, qui encerclent une ouverture d'écoulement et qui présentent des dimensions adaptées pour former une valvule, la paroi extérieure et les feuillets étant constitués d'un matériau différent de celui d'une valvule naturelle.
