ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A valve seat contains a seat ring with flat, parallel side faces. The seat ring consists of steel or possibly of PTFE. When the valve is being shut by a throttle, a sealing surface of the throttle is pressed against the seat ring which adopt itself as to form and position to the mean line of the throttle, and the seat ring is displaced in a groove in the plane of the seat. A couple of spring washers sealingly engage the parallel side faces of the seat ring. When the throttle is re-opened the spring washers secure the seat ring in its position.
