ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A valve piston is axially movably arranged in a valve housing having a cylindrical flow passage. A circumferential groove of the piston carries a sealing ring for separating a high pressure side from a low pressure side of the valve. The sealing ring has a cross-sectionally trapezoid shaped portion of which the narrow side may be pressed tightly to seal against the inner valve seat surface of the housing. At least one spring ring is arranged to radially outwardly bias the sealing ring for sealing against the valve seat surface.
