A VANDAL-PROOF HANDSET FOR A PAY TELEPHONE Abstract of the Disclosure A vandal proof handset for a pay tele- phone having apertures therein for allowing sound to pass therethrough. The handset includes a transducer for converting either sound to elec- trical signals or electrical signals to sound. The transducer is positioned within the handset proxi- mate the apertures such that the sound is trans- mitted or received by the transducer through the aperture A disk member for preventing access to the transducer through the aperture includes open- ings therein for allowing sound to pass there- through. The disk member is positioned between the handset apertures and the transducer such that the openings in the disk member and the apertures in the handset are not in registry. The transducer, therefore, is not accessible through the disk member openings.
