IMPROVED VAPOR ISOMERIZATION OF METHYL- SUBSTITUTED AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a process for effecting catalyatic isomerization of monocyclic methyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon feed- stock which comprises contacting said feedstock in the vapor phase with hydrogen at a pressure of from about 20 psig to about 500 psig, a hydrogen/hydrocarbon mole ratio of from about 1 to about 10 and a weight hourly space velocity of from about 0.5 hr-1 to about 20 hr-1 in the presence of a catalyst composition containing a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite characterized by a silica/alumina mole ratio of greater than 12 and a constraint index within the approximate range of 1 to 12, the improvement wherein the amount of said zeolite in said catalyst composition is from about 0.1 to about 5 percent by weight of said catalyst composition and the reaction temperature is from about 800°F to about 1000°F.
