A device for distributing an optical signal has an optical waveguide with a plurality of gratings disposed in series therein, the gratings having a predetermined reflectivity response within a specific wavelength range; an optical circulator having at least three ports, one of the ports serving as an input port for receiving the optical signal, and another port for removing at least a part of the optical signal reflected from one of the gratings; and, control means for individually controlling at least some of the gratings to effect a change of the wavelength range of the reflectivity response of the gratings. The change may be a shift, an expansion or a compression of the range. The device can function as a signal distributor (router), an equalizer or a demultiplexer. The reflectivity response is preferably a sloped response.

Dispositif pour assurer la répartition d'un signal optique comportant un guide d'ondes optiques avec une pluralité de réseaux de diffraction disposés en série, les réseaux possédant un niveau de réflexivité prédéterminé à l'intérieur d'une gamme de longueurs d'onde spécifique; un circulateur optique comportant au moins trois orifices, un de ces orifices servant à l'entrée du signal, et un autre étant utilisé pour éliminer une partie au moins du signal réfléchi par l'un des réseaux. Un dispositif permet de commander individuellement au moins une partie des réseaux dans le but de modifier la gamme de longueurs d'ondes du niveau de réflexivité des réseaux de diffraction. Le changement peut prendre la forme d'une compression ou d'une expansion de la gamme de longueurs d'ondes. Le dispositif peut servir de répartiteur de signal (routeur), de correcteur ou de démultiplexeur. De préférence, le niveau de réflexivité obtenu est sous forme de réponse étagée.
