Abstract of the Disclosure A variable beamwidth stage light (10) having an axially movable reflector (18) for changes in beamwidth. The reflector has a plurality of radially outwardly and axially forwardly extending leaves (62) in side-by-side relation defining a bowl-shaped reflector surface. A stationary support flange (58) frictionally contacts the radially outward surface of each leaf. The reflector base (26) is sandwiched between a base member (28) and a ring member (24). A motor driven lead screw (30) is attached to the base member to move the reflector axially relative to the support flange. The reflector defines first and second focal points (F1 and F2) along the axis of the reflector. A light source (16) is fixed at the first focal point, which remains substantially fixed relative to the base member. Contact of the support flange with the reflector leaves causes the diameter of the reflector leaves to vary as the base member is moved, thereby displacing the second focal point and varying the beamwidth issuing from the reflector.
