ABSTRACT A retainer to hold a Belleville or diaphragm spring onto a rivet or similar securing member and provide a controlled spring pressure against an assembly retained by the securing member. The retainer includes a housing having a recess within which the diaphragm spring is received and a cap having a portion projecting into the recess to engage the spring and exert force thereon to reduce the height of the spring and control the spring pressure.
