The invention relates to a flame retention device (1) and to a gas mixing burner (80) equipped with such a device. This device incorporates in its construction a compressed gauze of interwoven flexible metal wire or wires for said gases to flow through it, and takes the form of a ring (2). The device is constituted by a substantially coaxial stack of at least two of said rings (2). Such a device may in particular be mounted on cylindrical domestic burners.
