The present invention relates to a variable frequency tag (10, 600). An antenna assembly (20) for receiving interrogating radiation (70) at the tag (10, 600) and generating a corresponding received signal (S1), and for receiving a signature signal and radiating corresponding response radiation (300, 310); (b) a logic unit (60) for receiving the received signal (S1) and outputting the signature signal in response, the signature signal including a signature code for use in identifying the tag (10, 600); (c) a voltage controlled oscillator (50) for controlling a rate at which the signature code is output; and (d) a power supply (30, 40; 610, 650) for providing an electrical potential difference for energizing the tag, characterised in that the voltage controlled oscillator (50) is operable to output the signature code at a rate which is governed by the magnitude of the received signal (S1).
L'invention concerne une étiquette à fréquence variable (10, 600) comprenant : (a) un ensemble antenne (20) conçu pour recevoir un rayonnement d'interrogation (70) au niveau de ladite étiquette (10, 600) et générer un signal reçu correspondant (S1), ainsi que pour recevoir un signal signature et un rayonnement de réponse correspondant audit rayonnement (300, 310) ; (b) une unité logique (60) destinée à recevoir le signal reçu (S1) et, en réponse, à sortir le signal signature, ce signal signature comprenant un code signature servant à identifier l'étiquette (10, 600) ; (c) un oscillateur commandé en tension (50) conçu pour commander la cadence à laquelle le code signature est sorti ; et (d) un bloc d'alimentation (30, 40 ; 610, 650) servant à fournir une différence de potentiel électrique pour activer l'étiquette. Cette invention est caractérisée en ce que l'oscillateur commandé en tension (50) peut être actionné pour sortir le code signature à une cadence qui est régulée par l'intensité du signal reçu (S1).
