A turbocharger having a variable geometry turbine inlet incorporates a cylindrical piston movable to vary the area of the inlet nozzle into the turbine. Vanes extending from the heat shield for flow control in the nozzle are engaged by the piston in a first closed position. In a second open position, the piston is spaced from the vanes increasing the inlet nozzle area.

Un turbocompresseur à entrée de turbine à géométrie variable comprend un piston cylindrique (70) déplaçable de manière à modifier la section de la tuyère d'entrée à la turbine. Des ailettes (90) s'étendant à partir d'un bouclier thermique (92) pour le réglage d'écoulement de la tuyère sont touchées par le piston dans une première position fermée.
