A cylinder former (10) having a variable hydraulic pulse whilst drainage, for use in papermaking comprising a drainage means comprising a cylinder mould (12) and a contoured member (34) adjacent the cylinder mould having a plurality of hills and valleys which force entrained liquid through the fiber suspension forming on the cylinder mould so as to improve sheet formation. A baffle (39) is provided in the discharge portion of the former to prevent stock build-up therein.

L'invention se rapporte à un dispositif de formage cylindrique (10) caractérisé par une impulsion hydraulique variable en cours d'égouttage et destiné à être utilisé lors de la fabrication du papier. Ce dispositif comporte un organe d'égouttage comprenant un moule cylindrique (12) et un élément profilé (34) adjacent audit moule cylindrique et possédant une pluralité de crêtes et de vallées qui forcent le liquide entraîné à passer dans la suspension fibreuse qui se forme sur le moule cylindrique de manière à améliorer la formation des feuilles. Une chicane (39) disposée dans la partie d'évacuation du dispositif de formage permet d'éviter l'accumulation de pâte dans ce dispositif.
