ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The brightness of the lamps in a panel in an aircraft cockpit is normally controlled by a bulky potentiometer or series of potentiometers. A simple, compact solution to the problem includes a small modular control device for mounting in each panel, the device including a first resistor of fixed resistance for generating a base current, a variable resistor for varying the base current, and a transistor which is controlled by the base current to control the current flow through and consequently the brightness of the lamps.
