VARIABLE PULLEY TORQUE DRIVE MEANS ABSTRACT: A variable pulley torque drive system (19) comprising a pair of flexible straps (22,24), each connected at one end (21,23) to a pivot (26,28,30) on a drive member (20) or a movable pulley sheave (16), and at the other end to the other of either the movable sheave (16) or drive member (20), the straps (22,24) being in tension when driving and flexed and deflected to compression in the undriven mode.
